Flashy slides don't help convince. But YOU have to.

Make sure your next presentation is not a bore. Every month, I review a couple of my clients' presentations. I mean, not only the contents of the slides and the slides themselves but also the voice, rhythm, intonation and finally the attitude of the guys who do the job.

What I have learned from 20 years of presentations, is that you can have flashy slides, full of tricks and blinks and jingles. Still, if you are not extremely convincing all of the time, your presentation will be a flop.

Yet, everyone can be effective in a presentation. Most people can really do the job nicely. Some have the interpersonal qualities to become excellent. Yet, sadly enough, very few perform really well.

Knowing your subject like a champ AND interacting carefully with your audience is one of the keys for your success. Plus: hard work and careful preparation always pay off.

If you aren't yet a champ in presentations, learn your text by heart. Of course, it must be in spoken language. Videotape yourself. You'll discover who you are and how you sound. Time your presentation and stick to your timing.
